Bixby vs google assistant smartwatch comparison

which is the superior assistant in the world of Android compatible smart watches, and does it warrant shelling out the extra couple of hundred for a Samsung watch?

Both of these watches are great in their own right. The Ticwatch is light, simple, runs wear OS and under $200 AUD if purchased at the right time on amazon. The Galaxy watch has just been released here in Australia and runs the latest Tizen OS, has an excellent build quality, super crisp and vibrant screen but comes with Bixby which is the long criticized assistant of the Samsung phones. Even with such strong pro's they both run a different OS, have a different store for apps and games and provide a different assistant for basic tasks, but which ones better?

Bixby

The software looks good, has a basic text to speech function built in for reading back tasks, the weather and confirming whether you with to send or cancel a text message you've asked to send. However, it rarely works in mildly noisy environments, doesn't pick up on complex words well and cant perform anything above a basic "tell John I'll be late" or "Wake me up at 6am tomorrow morning."

This isnt anything new with assistants given Siri and Google assistant have some issues with more than the basic tasks as well, its just Bixby does a particularly awful job of it, something puting in long slurs and offensive words instead of the original non-offensive sentence I attempted to have it reciprocate.

In short, I do not use Bixby assistant for much on my watch, making my preference using the rotating bezel to accomplish my goals, which is far more pleasurable to use.

Google Assistant

Does surprisingly well on a Wear OS watch of this price range. It can pick me up with music playing in the background, in a noisy environment or when driving my car (although does get confused with my phone sometimes since they both have assistant installed).

Its still a far fetch from where you would want a full blown assistant, it doesnt talk to you, cant perform complex tasks and cant tell jokes! (no seriously I wanted a joke!) but other than that it performs basic text messaging and schedule handling like a champ.

Which is better?

Google assistant outranked Bixby under the single reasoning that, if its going to get anything right its got to be able to understand you 99% of the time, which it doesnt. Google assistant smashed bixby with being able to understand me clearly, not crashing randomly and the simple fact of working for all basic tasks when put to the test.
